BRIEF

People First Dorset is a user-led charity, supporting people with learning disabilities to develop their confidence, communication skills and their ability to live a normal life. Their mission is to empower people with learning disabilities to be independent, have their voices heard and to be included in community life. I've been working with them both volunteering and in a paid capacity since 2019. As part of re-branding the charity, the website they had was looking a little dated, with a poor user-experience and a lack of focus. They needed a new shop window to showcase the amazing work they do.

SOLUTION

Having worked with the team at People First Dorset - possibly the nicest people I've ever met - I knew that I would have free rein to develop their website (after helping them develop a stronger brand) to appeal to their different audiences; grant providers, fundraisers, those who might donate and parents/carers of their members. Using Wix, we used a strong visual style with three bold brand colours. Much of the photography was taken by myself, bespoke to the site. I spent an afternoon with members and Laura Kerr, the manager of People First Dorset, at tourist spots in Dorset to bring to life their personality and highlight these beautiful locations.
